Yesterday, I received a piece of paper from the state of California that has been a long time comin'. You see, when I first moved here, they told me in order to renew my credential, I'd have to jump through numerous hoops dispite my 9 years of previous experience. After months of delving into their website, I discovered that they evaluated my incorrectly. So I set out to fix that in order to drastically cut the number of hoops I had to jump through.
It took a call to the paper pushers during which I was on hold for no less than 45 minutes (thank goodness for cordless phones with speaker) and me paying the $55 application and waiting since July to fix something that wasn't even MY fault. Oh well, $55 is a lot less than the Master's Degree they were telling me I had to do. :)
So, once I renew this credential at the end of the year, I'll be permitted to teach in California until 2015. Crazy! I'll be 41 in 2015! Will I even be here in 2015? I dunno. We'll see.
